Young people from Moron will climb Cunagua hill for the freedom of the Cuban five
A group of young cultural promoters, community workers and specialists from cultural institutions in the municipality of Moron, will climb Cunagua hill next October 10th, one of the most important elevations in Ciego de Avila province, to ask from its top, for the freedom of the Cuban five prisoners of the empire.
The claim for freedom will coincide with the commemoration of the 142nd anniversary of the beginning of the Cuban independentist struggle, when Carlos Manuel de Cespedes let his slaves free in the sugar mill La Demajagua, and called them to fight against the Spanish colonizers.
On the top of the hill, from which the north coast of Ciego de Avila province and the salt waters of the Old Bahamas Channel could be seen, the young artists and cultural promoters will raise up our national flag and will put a written media, requiring freedom for Fernando, Gerardo, Antonio, Ramon and Rene, who are suffering unfair condemns in top security prisons in the States.
In this way it will start in Moron, a special program devoted to the Day of the Cuban Culture that is developed each year on October 20th, and in which conferences, expositions and artistic shows, will be held, and in which outstanding personalities of the local culture will be priced.
