A unique date for the Cuban people is and will always be July 26th because precisely that day but in 1953 meant a turning point in which it was going to be afterwards a stronger popular cohesion around the fight for the freedom and independence  of our country.  

If it is a true that some subjective factors did not lead to the expected results in that moment, the historical events of October 10the 1868 in “La Demajagua”, represented a compelling element which paved the way to the definitive triumph of the Cuban Revolution in 1959.

Such were the hopes of the generation of the century to see its country totally free; that neither the period of time behind bars, the exile, the bad weather during Granma´s expedition, nor the former unequal combats against the army in Sierra Maestra Mountains could stop our dreams came true.

The oath of Fidel Castro when he declared “in 1956 we are going to be free or dead”, fulfilled its objective, and 3 years later a new era started in Cuba where the power of the people was able to conquest so many successes, that they made it possible the total emancipation of the country.

Step by step and with no doubt, the nation obtained   a lot of outstanding results, and its best sons developed many brilliant performances since the campaign to eliminate illiteracy, to the sugar cane harvests in a time in which sugar production constituted the main economical activity.

The well known Moncada´s Program came true, and with the support of most of the people, the Revolution advanced so much, that it can be said there was no previous experience on the topic, and the option of taking socialism as our economical way of development helped to improve our country according to our particularities.

January 1st 1959 changed drastically production relations in Cuba, since that day, the people became the owners of their destiny, and our society guarantees the obtained conquests, without them it would have been possible to go on constantly, in spite of the risks of war and crisis in today’s world.

That is why today, 57 years after that historical event in the eastern part of the country, the unity and cohesion of the Cuban people are multiplied to encourage us to follow the steps of the so called generation of the century, in our endless aim to find alternatives to improve our big task, with all and for the wealth of all.
