The sustainability of Tourism as a premise of the center located in Moron
The Center of Sustainable Development of Tourism which works in Moron City in Ciego de Avila province has as its main goal, the conservation of the marine and terrestrial biodiversity in areas located in the north part of the provinces of Camaguey, Matanzas, Sancti Spiritus, Villa Clara and Ciego de Avila, all of them belonging to PNUD/ GEF Sabana-Camaguey Project.
Mr. Eduardo Veiga, specialist at the institution explained that among the planned activities for the running year, there are events focused on the conservation and integration of the biodiversity as well as teaching actions for the protection of the environment.
Located in the Hotel and Tourism School, the center will promote the building up of a methodology for the assessment of the strategic impact in the surrounding view, taking into account the characteristics of the destinations settled in the north region of the country.
The specialist also said that apart from this, there will be sessions of work devoted to the intervention and rehabilitation of the well-known Sabana-Camaguey ecosystem, the best actions of tourism of nature and the use of publicity in the promotion of the ecotouristic offer to potential clients.
Besides, he assured that it is of big interest the elaboration of correct strategies for the most useful use of the endemic flora which surrounds the buildings of the touristic branch, even when there are lots of positive experiences in Jardines del Rey destination in that sense.
Mr. Veiga added that the center is trying to adequate its work to the 3erd phase of the PNUD/GEF project with emphasis in the achievement of the objectives of the long-term plan for the Sabana-Camaguey Ecosystem and the System of Environmental Information.
